The education department of Darul Uloom Deoband has issued a regulation banning students from learning English or any other language while studying in an Islamic seminary.
The new order, issued by Maulana Hussain Haridwari, head of the department, emphasizes strict compliance and warns of expulsion for non-compliance.
According to the directive, students are prohibited from learning English throughout their tenure at the institution.
"Any student who violates this restriction or secretly engages in language studies will face expulsion from the institution. Also, students who are absent from classes or leave before the end of classes will face severe consequences," the order said.
A student criticized the management's decision and requested anonymity: "While we recognize that Darul Uloom is devoted to Islamic studies, preventing students from learning English or any other language seems unreasonable."
